The first symposium on Strait Crossings took place in Stavanger, Norway in 1986. The second one was in Trondheim in 1990, the third one in Ålesund in 1994 and the fourth in Bergen in 2001. 

The conference in Trondheim this year  focused on the traditional topics -bridges, submersed tubes and subsea tunnels. The lecturers presented projects on most continents.

The post conference excursion to the coastal areas Ålesund - Molde - Geiranger enjoyed pleasant weather. Participants interviewed by "Varsku her" seemed to be enthusiastic
